Rich Bomgardner from Wichita State University (WSU) presented results from his grant regarding return to learn policies following a concussion. As a result of his research and work with the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA), Rich assisted in the rewrite of House Bill 2574. This Bill is to help update state legislation regarding concussion protocols within the state of Kansas. During this study, Mr. Bomgardner also created best practices for schools to consider when allowing students to return to learn in the school setting.

All participating schools were members of the KSHSAA. Rich noted similarities in the percentages of responses from faculty members across classifications (1A-6A). Among those surveyed, coaches had higher percentages of responses and knowledge of concussion protocols.
